 Michael Collins became Ireland’s Ambassador to the United States on 18 September 2007.  He is the 16th person to occupy the post of Irish Ambassador to the US since 1924.  With a particular focus on supporting Irish business and economic development, Ambassador Collins has spoken extensively to US audiences on contemporary Ireland and the Northern Ireland peace process.  Prior to this appointment, Ambassador Collins served in the Department of Foreign Affairs and at the Department of the Taoiseach (Prime Minister of Ireland), as Ireland’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 1995-99 and as Ireland’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic and Ukraine from 1999-2001.
